Danny Kaye stars in this musical comedy directed by Melvin Frank and Norman Panama. In medieval England, carnival performer Hubert Hawkins (Kaye) impersonates a court jester in order to infiltrate the court of the tyrannical King Roderick who has recently usurped the throne. Hawkins is part of a plot to overthrow Roderick and save the life of the true king, who is still an infant.
