Robert Bresson directs this adaptation of the short story by Fyodor Dostoevsky. After Elle (Dominique Sanda) takes her own life, her bereft husband Luc (Guy Frangin) attempts to piece together the reasons why she may have committed suicide. While recalling memories, he begins to realise the extent of her loneliness.
